Getting there

Getting to Basel

By train: Basel is a railway hub and offers good connections to many major European cities. The two train stations (Basel SBB and Basel Badischer Bahnhof) are conveniently located in the city (10 to 15 minutes to the city center and conference venue).

By air: The Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse (BSL/MLH) has a convenient size and offers short check-in times. A direct bus shuttle leaving every ten minutes takes you to the city center in 20 minutes. The airport is well connected to the international hubs (Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Paris, Vienna). In addition, a rail service (80 minutes travel time) connects Basel to Switzerlands main airport in Zürich (ZRH) every hour. If you book a flight with SWISS International Airlines, you can opt for the final destination (ZDH) and the direct train service to Basel will be included in your booking. In the same way, you have an option to book Lufthansa flights to Frankfurt with train connection to Basel, in which case the code for Basel is (ZBA).

Getting to the venue

The conference will be held at the main building of the University of Basel (“Kollegienhaus”) located in the heart of the city.

The venue is very easy to get to by public transportation. From the SBB and Badischer Bahnhof train stations it takes around ten minutes on bus #30 to reach the bus stop “Universität”. From Basel EuroAirport take the airport shuttle bus (number #50) to SBB train station and then change to bus #30.

Booking accommodation (hotels, hostels, B&B etc) in Basel usually comes with a free of charge guest card ("BaselCard"), offering free travel on local public transportation as well as discounts on various offers including museums. While the card is handed to guests with the check-in, a copy of the hotel reservation works as proof for free public transportation on the arrival journey from the Basel airport/train station to the hotel.
