Through an ecocritical reading of Ivorian children’s literature, this presentation will bring local experiences into dialogue with the challenges of the global ecological crisis. It will examine relationships between human beings and the living world, questions of climate justice and shared responsibility, as well as the environmental legacy passed on to future generations. Children’s literature thus emerges as a privileged space for reflecting, from an Ivorian and African perspective, on global transformations and the responsibilities they entail.

The presentation will be followed by a conversation with Dr. Henri-Michel YÉRÉ, University of Basel, before opening the discussion to the audience.
